'Irresistible' opportunity to invest in feature film based
on Owen Sheers' Resistance
02 February 2011
British film producers, Richard Holmes and Amanda Faber took
advantage of the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) to attract
private investor funding for their latest project.
Production company, Big Rich Films had
secured seed funding from the Film Agency for
Wales and German distributor, Square One, but needed
additional investment to achieve the modest £1.2 million budget for
its adaptation of acclaimed Welsh poet, Owen Sheers' debut novel,
Resistance.
The company approached xénos in August, 2010 and the opportunity
impressed four xénos angels who invested in the production
alongside a number of other private investors. David
Larsen, one of the xénos investors, was also invited to
join the board as a non-executive director.
Resistance is set in war-time Britain and was filmed on location
in the Welsh borders. A powerful thriller, it explores a scenario
following a successful German invasion of Britain and an
alternative outcome to the Second World War.
xénos aims to introduce high-quality individual investment and
syndicated investment opportunities to its investors. It is always
keen to present large and small EIS scheme opportunities to its
investors. The Enterprise Investment Scheme is designed to help
smaller higher-risk trading companies to raise finance by offering
a range of tax reliefs to investors who purchase new shares in
those companies.
